Movable-type Printing is one of the four major inventions of ancient China. Students and professors got to experience the printing process firsthand in a tour of Movable-type Printing organized by ONPS. Everyone marveled at the wisdom and ingenuity of this great invention.
Very few peoples in the world have the art of calligraphy. However, China enjoys a long history of calligraphy art. This summer, we invited well-known calligraphers to share with professors the origin and development of Chinese characters and to teach them how to do a piece of Chinese calligraphy work. Everyone was deeply involved in the art of Chinese calligraphy.
In the company of volunteers and guides, professors toured the solemn and magnificent Prince Kung's Mansion which was built in Qing Dynasty, the Hehua Market and Shichahai where they enjoyed the local gourmet and the unique ambience of Beijing, and also the Nan Luo Gu Xiang where they saw for themselves the hustle and bustle of Hutong life.
Professors, students and ONPS staff visited magnificent Taishan Mountain, a natural wonder ranking the first of “China’s top five mountains”, a typical symbol of Chinese people and the epitome of splendid oriental culture. Taishan Mountain has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 and is deemed as a place where you can feel the unity of Heaven and Man.
